Here at the AOI Tea Company, we love all things matcha. We drink matcha, we eat matcha, and we use it as an ingredient in just about everything. Our staff was recently discussing what our favorite summer treats are and how we incorporate matcha into the recipes, and quickly realized that everyone really liked matcha ice cream. Matcha ice cream blends the delicious and creamy taste of ice cream with the health and nutritional benefits of matcha green tea.
So I scoured the internet for a recipe to share on our blog and when I found this recipe from Food and Wine magazine: Matcha Macaron Ice Cream Sandwiches
This delicious summer treat blends delicacies from all around the globe into one scrumptious dessert. Below is a breakdown of the recipe ingredients as shared on Food and Wine magazine’s website:
- 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons ground almonds (2 1/2 ounces); see Note
- 1 1/2 teaspoons matcha powder (instant green tea powder); see Note
- 3/4 cup confectioners’ sugar
- 4 large egg whites
- 1/8 teaspoon pure almond extract
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 pint green tea ice cream
- 1 pint vanilla ice cream
